MY JOURNEY FROM OIL SECTOR TO HEALTH SECTOR.

It was in the year 2007 when I received an e-mail from my daughter Ms. Ananya attaching the synopsis of a book, namely “Cancer-Step Outside the Box “ written by Ty M Bollinger. It was a turning point in my life as the subsequent developments not only gave me an opportunity to serve people but also inspired me to a philanthropic way of living after my retirement from services of NRL.
While it is known to everyone that ‘man is mortal’, from 62 years of experience in my life I have realised the difference between dying today and dying 20 years hence. People who live only for themselves or for their families, the difference between his death today and 20 years hence is only a loss to their families which get adjusted in a few months or years. But for the people who work for the society, their death today is tremendous loss to the society and that is why the society remembers them forever. I am now trying to contribute something to the society so that my living on earth becomes worthwhile to mankind.

The moral of a short story in our matriculation text book influenced my entire life. The story goes like this:
There were abundant land available in a country with very thin population. The country had a practice that anyone who marks the boundary of a plot of land between sunrise and sunset, becomes the owner of that plot of land. Once a land hungry person started running immediately after sunrise and after covering a huge area and reached the third corner when he noticed that the sun is about to set in the horizon. He increased his speed as if he is fighting a do or die battle to reach back the starting point. Encouraged by shouting of onlookers he somehow reached the starting point before sunset. But he fell down with exhaustion and died. As per practice in that country the entire plot of land was named after him by the authority and he was buried in a 3ft x 7 ft grave dug in that plot of land. The title of the story was “ How Much Land Does A Man Need”. I think readers of Rodali are intelligent enough to understand why I narrate this story after 46 years of my reading.
I joined the oil sector on 1st November,1974 in Oil India Ltd. after passing out Chemical Engineering from Assam Engineering College in 1973. As a deputationist to the Govt. of Assam in their Refinery & Petrochemical Division, I was automatically absorbed in NRL in 1993 becoming the first employee of NRL. Since then I have been an oil sector engineer until I retired from NRL on 31stJanuary,2011.
In the year 2007 my mother-in-law was suffering from esophagus cancer which added to my interest of reading the entire book “Cancer-Step Outside the Box” written by Ty M. Bollinger which was a best seller in 2004 in America. Anyone, except those who are in allopathic medical profession, will raise their eyebrows after reading the book. The author of the book has univocally exposed how the advocates of orthodox treatments of cancer using operation, radiation and chemotherapy, have suppressed scientifically proven natural cancer treatments only for their business gain. I have dealt on these in detail in my book “Canceror Answer” which is a compilation of articles published in vernacular daily “Amar Asom” during 2008-09.
The above articles impressed the readers so much that one Shri Ritujit Rajkhowa, after diagnosis of Non-Hedgkins Limphoma of his sister Ms. Bobi Dutta of Lahoal, started treating her with vitamin B17 importing the medicine from Mexico without going for chemotherapy advised by Dr. B.Barua Cancer Hospital. As the patient improved in few weeks Shri Rajkhowa contacted me for further advice and I fine tuned the treatment with addition of few more vitamins and supplements. To our delight Ms. Bobi Dutta got cured from cancer as was evident from clinical check up. After the news got published on 15th January,2011 in the front page of “Amar Asom”, people started pouring in to my office and official residence at E-04 in NRL Township and I started giving guidance to them in treating their cancer patients at home after the mainstream medical practitioners had sent them to die at home. Though there was no cure but the patients got relief from the pain of cancer and all of them got peaceful death unlike those who suffered after orthodox treatments of operation, radiation and chemotherapy. Inspired by the first success in curing a cancer patient with alternative treatment I decided to dedicate my post retirement life for the services of cancer patients of the north-east even though I received lucrative offers from private oil companies to join them before my retirement. My transition from oil sector to health sector completed on my retirement due to which some of my colleagues expressed in lighter vein that I ‘joined NRL as an ENGINEER and retired as a DOCTOR’. Anyway, this decision also compelled me to study more and more on cancer prevention and treatment through alternative ways and my study is continuing for which I spend every evening. Apart from reading a number of select e-books written by experts on alternative treatments of cancer, I have taken a step forward in the health sector by completing a professional course on Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2012 and the ICAM-Bangalore ( International Complementary Alternative Medicine) had issued one ‘A Grade’ certificate after the Final Examination held in December,2012.
Since, it is just impossible to make the entire population of Assam aware of prevention of cancer and popularise alternative cancer treatments single handedly, I decided to proceed in my mission taking help of a like minded group of people. As each and every non governmental social organisation has its own aim and objectives I had decided to incorporate a new NGO in the name and style of “Po’ritran” with the mission of ‘eradicating cancer from the North-East India’. Accordingly, after getting assurance for active participation & dedicated service from few individuals from Bokakhat, Assam, the NGO Po’ritran was formally launched in a public meeting on 7th April, 2011 at Bokakhat with myself as the President of the NGO. We, the members of Po’ritran got further encouragement to carry on our activities after the Chief Editor of ‘Amar Asom’ Shri Homen Borgohain and noted intellectual Shri Dhirendranath Chakravorty agreed to become advisers of ‘Po’ritran’.
It may be worth mentioning here that so far my success stories of application of alternative cancer home therapies include apart from Ms. Bobi Dutta, Shri Rajkamal Koch of Biswanath Chariali, near Tezpur(colon cancer), Ms. Subarna Devi Pujari of Rajabari, Bokakhat( breast cancer), Ms.( anonymous) of Guwahati( Felopine tube cancer), Jagabandhu Das of Duliajan(Esophagus cancer)( unfortunately died subsequently due to wrong handling by orthodox practitioners), and few more are on the way to cure who are still continuing the treatments. Rest of the patients who could not be cured due to extensive damage done by orthodox treatments of chemotherapy and radiation got extended life with alternative therapies with no pain.
Till November, 2011 Po’ritran had conducted 12 cancer awareness programs at various places in the state of Assam educating common people about prevention of cancer. Since cancer is such a disease ( actually not a disease but symptom of immune deficiency) which need 10-15 years to develop to a detectable condition, and also it has direct relation with food habit and lifestyle, Po’ritran intended to spread the messages of changing present day habits of new generation from taking Gutkha, Hydrogenated cold drinks, fast foods, processed foods, tobacco, etc. and accordingly approached the Hon’ble Health Minister of Assam for conducting such program among college students of Assam. On a directive from the Hon’ble Health Minister, the Director of Higher Education, Govt. of Assam, issued a circular No. PC/HE/Misc-21/2011/13 dtd. 8th December,2011 to the Principals of all colleges in Assam to cooperate with Po’ritran for conducting cancer awareness programs in their colleges. Incidentally, Po’ritran also demanded banning of sale of Gutkha and tobbaco in the state of Assam through newspaper statement. After conducting three awareness meetings in D.R College, Marangi Junior College and Kamargaon College in the Golaghat District as per the circular, Po’ritran had to keep the program temporarily in abeyance due to shortage of fund. It may be noted that Po’ritran has not received a single rupee from Government or Government establishments so far and all awareness meetings/programs were organised with public donations and members’ contribution only.
After my retirement from the services of NRL on 31st January,2011 and after I shifted to Guwahati on 28th February of the same year, I had to maintain a schedule of meeting cancer patients or their families between 10-00 a.m. and 1-00 p.m. at my residence at Panjabari with prior appointment. I had to maintain this schedule only to accommodate my day to day family life and personal activities. During my service with NRL my wife Jyotica was complaining about not giving proper attention to my family affairs due to official preoccupations and I had to console her that I would be able to spend lot of time with my family after the retirement. Contrary to that, I was now even busier with patients, attending their telephone calls, with my continued study, jobs related to the NGO, etc. apart from personal jobs. Moreover, as the head office of Po’ritran happened to be in Bokakhat I have to visit Bokakhat at least once a month for a week or so. Now Jyotica is compelled to sacrifice more to adjust with my schedule for the sake of a social cause to which she is also committed. She is also sentimentally involved with the cause as she lost her mother due to Esophagus Cancer in 2009. By virtue of being better half she has now become my immediate adviser on the matters of Po’ritran and also in dealing with the patients.
Untill 15th of March, 2013 I used to import and keep stock of vitamins, supplements and other ingredients required for alternative therapies at my residence so that the patients are in a position to start the treatments immediately without wasting time in procurement & shipment. Moreover, most of the patients are not in a position to buy the same by themselves due to ignorance and non-availability of credit card. On 15th of March,2013 the office of Po’ritran had been ceremoniously inaugurated by Shri Homen Borgohain after which Po’ritran took the responsibility of keeping stock of these medicines at its office at Rajabari, Bokakhat. However, after this shift, my involvement has not reduced, rather increased, in interaction with patients & in coordination with Rajabari office. With involvement of Po’ritran, whatever I was doing myself from my residence so long, has been institutionalised . The office of Po’ritran has now virtually became the office of Po’ritran Alternative Cancer Clinic from where the cancer patients are being given guidance in applying alternative Home Therapies. Number of patients approaching for advice have also increased many fold.
It may be prudent to explain to the readers what is termed as Alternative Home Therapies. There are certain alternative cancer treatments which may be applied at home by patient himself or by caregiver without help of a professional medical practitioner with guidance from experts in these therapies. Some of these therapies were developed by Nobel Laureates or scientists nominated for Nobel prize not less than seven times. An American non-profit organisation, Independent Cancer Research Foundation(ICRF) is continuously doing research on alternative home therapies for cancer. Their aim is to develop low cost treatment protocols for 4th stage advanced cancer patients. I have regular contact with the chairman of ICRF, Mr. Webster Kehr who has assured to give expert guidance in applying these therapies to cancer patients from the office of Po’ritran.
There are also certain alternative treatments which can be applied only in clinics under supervision of expert medical professionals like, IV( Intravenous) vitamin C, IV DMSO, Ozone Therapy, Insulin Potentiation Therapy(IPT), DMSO Potentiation Therapy(DMPT), Hyperthermia, Colon Hydrotherapy, etc. Po’ritran also has plan to establish such a clinic in Rajabari, Bokakhat in the second phase which will make the center a full-fledged alternative cancer clinic. However, compared to home therapies establishment of such a clinic would require a huge outlay. Once established, it will start a new era in cancer treatment in Assam. We, therefore, appeal to the corporate world to provide financial assistance from their CSR fund so that people of the North-East, where cancer is now spreading like an epidemic, get opportunity to think for an alternative to orthodox cancer treatments. There is no better CSR proposal the central PSUs in Assam can think of at present. It is worth mentioning here that unlike orthodox treatment with only chemotherapy and radiation which kills the immune system first before killing the cancer cells, alternative treatments are natural treatments without any side effect which rebuilds the immune system while trying to kill the cancer cells. No disease on earth can be cured without strengthening the immune system and that is why success rate of chemotherapy, on an average, is less than 3% in the world.
There are many large alternative cancer clinics in countries like Mexico, Germany, America, Australia, China, etc. where the authorities claim even 80-90% cure rate of virgin cancer patients who are not affected with orthodox treatments. It is said that American President Reagan got cured from cancer by treating in one of the German clinics under Dr. Nieper who was an expert in Vitamin B17 therapy. Reagan died after 13 years of treatment but not from cancer. Po’ritran is also exploring possibility of tying up with such a clinic from Germany or Mexico. It is said that, at present German Alternative Clinics are the best in the world. If such a clinic, which is my dream, is established in the North-East India my transition from oil sector to health sector will be meaningful to the society and I feel that there will definitely be lot of differences between my death today and 20 years hence.
